Repairs

Spider Canada repairs start from one idea: a piece that can be mended is worth mending. Before anything else, send a photograph of the problem with your order number, and we will tell you honestly whether it is fixable, whether it is a fault on our side, or whether it is ordinary wear.

Spider Canada Repairs That Usually Work

Seams, cuffs and hems are the straightforward ones. A seam that has opened, a cuff that has lost its stretch at one point, a hem that has come down on one side — all of those are ordinary repairs and none of them affect the print.

What Usually Cannot

A print that has cracked across a fold, or lifted after a turn in the dryer, cannot be put back. Ink does not go down twice, and a patch over a graphic looks worse than the crack ever did. That is the whole reason the care page is worth two minutes of anyone's time.

Fault or Wear

There is a real difference between the two and we will say which one we think it is. A seam that gives way early is ours. A print that has faded over several hot washes is wear, and pretending otherwise would not help you choose the next piece any better.

Keeping a Print Alive Before It Needs Mending

Almost every unfixable piece that reaches us failed in the same way, and it was heat rather than wear that did it. A tumble dryer softens the ink, the garment tumbles against itself, and the drawing cracks along whatever fold it was lying in. Once that has happened there is nothing to repair, because ink cannot be laid over a broken print and matched.

The habits that prevent it are dull and they work. Cold water, garment turned inside out so the print faces away from the drum, and air drying on a hanger rather than folded over a rail. An iron goes nowhere near the drawing; if a crease needs dealing with, press the fabric around it from the reverse.

On Heavier Pieces

A 380 GSM hoodie holds a lot of water and will stretch at the shoulders if you hang it wet on a thin hanger. Dry it flat first, then hang it. Everything else is on the. care page.

What We Can and Cannot Repair

A dropped seam, a loose cuff or a hood drawcord that has pulled out are all straightforward fixes. A cracked print is not repairable: once the ink has lifted off the fleece it cannot be put back, which is why the wash advice matters more than any repair ever will. Send a photo first so we can tell you honestly whether a piece is worth sending in. The full care routine that keeps garments out of the repair pile sits alongside the range on. Spider Canada.

Before You Send Anything

Wash the piece first and describe the fault in plain terms. Dry it flat, then fold it; a damp parcel does a garment no favours on its way to us.

Turnaround depends on the fault and on post in both directions, so treat a repair as a week or two rather than a same-week fix, and plan around that.
