Privacy Policy

The Spider Canada privacy policy sets out what this site collects about you, why it collects it, who else sees it and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written to be read rather than to be legally impressive.

If anything here is unclear, ask through the contact page, and you will get a plain answer rather than a copy of this text.

Who Is Responsible for Your Information

Spider Canada operates spiderscanada.ca and is responsible for the personal information described on this page. Questions about any of it, including requests to see or delete what we hold, go through the contact page.

What We Collect When You Order

  • Your name, delivery address and email address, because a parcel cannot be addressed or confirmed without them.
  • The contents of your order and the size you chose, which is also what lets us handle a return.
  • A phone number, when the carrier requires one for delivery.
  • Anything you write to us about the order, kept with the order so the next person to read it has the context.

Your payment is processed by the provider shown at checkout. We are told whether it succeeded, not what your card number is.

What We Collect When You Just Visit

  • Which pages were opened and roughly where the visit came from, in aggregate rather than tied to you by name.
  • Whether the site worked correctly, so that broken pages get found.
  • What you have saved to a wishlist or left in a basket, so it is still there when you come back.
  • Cookie preferences, which is itself stored in a cookie.

None of this is sold, and none of it is used to build a profile of you to sell to anyone else.

The cookie policy covers this part in more detail, including how to refuse the non-essential ones.

Why We Are Allowed to Hold It

Every piece of information above sits under one of the following, and nothing is collected that does not:

  • To perform the contract you entered into when you placed an order, covering your name, address and order details.
  • To meet legal obligations, mainly the tax and accounting records that follow a completed order.
  • For our legitimate interest in the site working properly and in preventing fraudulent orders.
  • With your consent, for anything optional, including marketing email and non-essential cookies.
  • To establish or defend a legal claim, in the rare case that one arises from an order.
  • To keep a record of a choice you have made, such as an unsubscribe, so that it is honored.

Consent is the only one of these you give and can take back, and withdrawing it does not affect an order already placed. Withdrawing it takes one message through the contact page.

Who Else Sees Your Information

  • The carrier delivering your parcel, which needs your name, address and sometimes a phone number.
  • The payment provider at checkout, which handles the transaction itself.
  • The company hosting this website, which necessarily stores what the site stores.
  • The email service that sends order confirmations and dispatch notices.

What You Can Ask For

Order records are kept for as long as accounting and tax rules require, because those rules do not care what we would prefer, and everything optional is kept only until you ask us to remove it. Beyond that, you can ask for any of the following at any time:

  • A copy of what we hold about you.
  • A correction, if something is wrong.
  • Deletion, where we are not required by law to keep it.
  • A pause on processing while a dispute is sorted out.
  • Your information in a portable form.
  • An objection to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Withdrawal of consent, for anything optional.

Ask through the contact page. You will not be charged for asking, and you will not be asked why.

Marketing Email

You only receive marketing email if you asked for it. Every one of them carries an unsubscribe link that works immediately, and order confirmations are not marketing, so those keep coming regardless.

Children

This site is not aimed at children, nothing here is made in children's sizes, and we do not knowingly collect information about anyone below the age at which they can consent for themselves.

Security

The site runs over an encrypted connection and access to order information is limited to the people who pack and support orders. No system is perfect, and anyone claiming otherwise is selling something.

Information Leaving Your Country

Some of the providers named above operate outside the country you are ordering from, so your information may be handled elsewhere under appropriate safeguards. There is no version of online ordering that avoids this entirely.

Changes to the Spider Canada Privacy Policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the page changes and the date on it changes with it. We will not quietly alter it and hope nobody rereads it.

This page describes how this site actually operates. It is not legal advice, and it should be reviewed against the rules of every market this shop sells into.

Who Is Responsible for Your Data

This store is operated by the business behind Spider Canada (https://www.spiderscanada.ca). Its full legal details — registered name, address and company or tax registration number — are being finalised and will be published here as soon as they are confirmed. Nothing on this page depends on them: the commitments below apply now.

For anything about your personal data — a copy of it, a correction, deletion, or a complaint — write to support@spiderscanada.ca.
